You could also try particleboard. It's just really bendy wood.SluffAndRuff wrote: ↑Sat Nov 30, 2019 5:18 pm What's a good thickness for the sheet metal to build the ramp out of - something that's thin enough to work with easily but not too thin to be weak? Thanks!

Re: Ramp Creation
According to the rules and code of ethics, "One or more of a 15-member team must have constructed all pre-built devices presented for judging." Personally I don't think you would be able to, as after you impound you can't put it back in the impound area for your 2nd team to compete.

Re: Ramp Creation
As we just found out at LISO, each team must have their own ramp. They allowed us to compete all of our cars with one ramp, but I doubt a supervisor will let it slide again.

Re: Ramp Creation
How is everyone attaching the sheet metal surface to the plywood sides? Would I be able to just drill through the sheet metal into the plywood to hold it down, or is there more involved in the attachment process? Also, is 1/16" a good thickness to use? Thanks.

Re: Ramp Creation
I used 1/16 and it's working well. I used sheet metal screws to screw through the sheet metal and into the wood frame.MTV<=>Operator wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 7:10 pm How is everyone attaching the sheet metal surface to the plywood sides? Ok, thank you. Would 1/2 in be adequate thickness for the plywood?CPScienceDude wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 7:19 pmI used 1/16 and it's working well. Re: Ramp Creation
That's what mine is, be careful when screwing the sheet metal onto the plywood, cause it started to split for me.MTV<=>Operator wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 7:33 pmOk, thank you.
