No, thats Wright Stuff. Scrambler is building a launching system and a car to send an egg as close to a barrier as possible without touching it.

The new rule that gives a severe penalty for touching the wall would seem to make the egg unnecessary. Essentially you now get two penalties for a broken egg, one for touching the wall and another for the egg breaking. If you hit the wall you will no longer be competitive, even if the egg doesn't break, so what's the point of the egg? I actually argued last year for the egg to be removed from the event because the breaking strength of eggs is so inconsistent, but the rule this year eliminates the purpose of the egg (that's good) but doesn't eliminate the egg itself (huh? what's the egg for, so we could still call the event Scrambler).
The only hint I will give about the launcher is this, you need to extract as much energy from the falling mass as possible. Look at your basic physics, do an energy balance (where does the energy go), and try to maximize that portion of the energy ending up in the egg transport. It is just like Storm the Castle in that way. Most trebuchets are extremely innefficient in how they transfer energy to the projectile, but there are ways to dramatically improve that transfer of energy. Our launcher was able to launch one of our test transports so that the travel time was just over 1 second, but it was essentially impossible to stop the vehicle reasonably close to the barrier (without a high probability of smashing the egg). We actually had to significantly slow down the launcher to have a reasonable chance of stopping close to the barrier, and even then we had issues with breaking the egg from the rapid acceleration.

What are your thoughts on the rule change for this year? I personally dont like it. Also, another change for this year is that the egg cant touch the wall AT ALL or you will be issued a run penalty. I dont like this new rule either

Thoughts?
Well i actually like that rule... Gives the scrambler a challenge.
CHALLENGE! YES!

There is a box with an open top and a whole in the back. A round 1kg weight is dropped into a descending semi tube which goes down into the box. The weight bumps against the front wall of the vehicle, and then goes back under the tube which didn't go to the floor of the vehicle. The 1kg ball bumps a weight outside of the hole in the back. Attached to it is a string, which is attached to the box. The weight is heavy enough to slow, and eventually stops it however long a distance from the wall the egg would go into. An adapted version would have the string attached to either the front or rear axle.
I had a picture of my idea, but apparently, I can't find it.
1 kg is too light. This year it's 1.5kg. Also no strings allowed to stop it. I also don't get how the rolling ball works either talk to your coach. I did this event last year.
Go CFMS Indians

I went through the scrambler wiki and updated the rule explanations.

I agree with not being able to touch the wall , but having to go straight is somewhat unfair
.Last year I only deviated about 15 centimeters at 12 meters. Any ideas on keeping the car straight?

Why would the Ramp Scrambler be illegal this year?

Now all the wheels of the Scrambler must and I repeat must touch the ground at the beginning of run.
