i've gotta say that I'm a pretty big Markus Zusak and Orson Scott Card fan.
Ender's game(Card) is kind of confusing like The Book Thief (Zusak), but in the end it makes a lot more sense. also, To Kill a Mockingbird is like.. slow in the beginning, but if u get into it, it's nice. And if you like nonfiction: Alive by Piers Paul Read, is a bit graphic and in a documentary-style format, but it's still good. And of course, one of my all-time favorites: Pride and Prejudice
Nerds rule. Nerds are awesome. Nerds will someday (soon) rule the world. And you know it.

2010. Be prepared. If not, you f(l)ail!

If you're looking for a good non-fiction, Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser is very good.

also a bit more for middle school (but still good) is The Mysterious Benedict Society and the next two books (the third just came out, but i haven't read it yet). it has an awesome cover. i like books with genius kids XD

... and percy jackson and the olympians.
... and the bartimaeus trilogy, even though nathaniel is an idiot.

why do so many people like the eragon books? (...inheritance cycle?)

The thirty nine steps by John Buchan. It sounds like a boring old classic, but is actually the first, and one of the best, spy novels ever written. Plus, you can read it online for free.

Other than that, G.K. Chesterton is really good, and oftentimes quite humorous, if read correctly. Check out www.manalivethemovie.com
