Re: Road Scholar
that would be good, but you'd have to keep the math at a middle school level, it would be hard to teach middle schoolers trig

Re: Road Scholar
Yeah most middle schoolers won't learn high level trig but you could probably include some low level stuffrocketman1555 wrote:that would be good, but you'd have to keep the math at a middle school level, it would be hard to teach middle schoolers trig

Re: Road Scholar
even low level trig would be hard for most middle schoolers, because trig has a lot of geometry and higher level algebra in it that is hard to do without the foundations that u learn in geometry and algebra 2

Re: Road Scholar
Well they could put in some of the math at the Nationals level those kids pretty much have the potential to be able to do the stuff. I mean those kids should be able to understand the basics. But maybe not, I think they should be able to handle it.

Re: Road Scholar
I think anything can be changed in Road Scholar. Because the rules stay pretty much the same every year, people cna just remember the stuff from last year, usually without having to learn anything new. Although trig would be a nice addition to Road Scholar, I think different types of maps should be introduced besides highway maps and quadrangles.

Why should the maps have to be common? I think that Road Scholar should become a more difficult event, and adding a type of map that people don't see very often will probably do that.eak227 wrote:I don't really know any other common types of maps...

Re: Road Scholar
I agree that it would make it more interesting. But now that I think about it, I can't actually give any examples. I'm not very knowledgeable about anything not in the bounds of the rules... What other kinds are there, common or otherwise?

Re: Road Scholar
Underwater maps and internet maps are possibilities. Internet maps I think are a good idea because the common road map is becoming extinct. Climate maps are also a possibility but that really has more to do with Meteorology. Also, I think map history might be a good addition.
