i've only got it at regionals and states but at regionals we didn't need to use it to find the epicenter and they had a separate line for s-p interval and the practice tests i did where not like the one at states so it got me confused especially when there was only like 5 minutes left...
and at invitationals they didn't have a that at all and gave us a formula to find the distance

None of the competitions have given us anything. We had a chart on our sheet, and had to improvise for a compass at regionals. At state we didn't even need the compass which was sad.

same. our coach told us that they had to give us the chart. they didnt' give us the chart. and we obviously didn't have it on the sheet, so we just picked the answer that looked the best for those questions. and for a compass we rotated paper from the test.

yeah i had to use the corner of the paper as a ruler then mark it every couple of inches then connect the dots to make a sort of circle
except it didn't really work out so i kind of made the circles intersect each other i actaully got the right lat/long plus or minus 5

Could someone explain the compass problem to me? I don't see the any major problems with getting a different compass in competition. Not to sound snobby or anything, I just want to understand the argument.
SO stressed!

well you know how you would use a compass to find the epicenter on a map. well at some competitions they dont' give you compasses and you have to use the test paper. and some people just have a preference of compasses and want to use their own.
