Re: Georgia 2019
Well, then next month's Chattahoochee Invite should be quite interesting. Piedmont is bringing 2 teams, JC Booth will be there with their original coaches, Orlando Science is coming back up from Florida, plus FSA, Dodgen, etc.

IMO, its very, very hard to meme at any competition before nats. You really have to take every invitaitonal before as a learning experience to improve your chances on doing well before nats.rabbitman wrote:They were "weak" last year too. i think they just meme before nats then make a statement that they are good like the week of nats and then get top 10Killboe wrote:Yeah I was really surprised when I didn't hear Piedmont's name being called out for every event. Re: Georgia 2019
Many schools do not make their "A" team until regionals or even states. They have unstacked teams or send different competitors to different tournaments thus leading to lower scores.rabbitman wrote:They were "weak" last year too. i think they just meme before nats then make a statement that they are good like the week of nats and then get top 10Killboe wrote:Yeah I was really surprised when I didn't hear Piedmont's name being called out for every event. Re: Georgia 2019
Better results:
Invitational Flight:
1. Fulton Science Academy A (108)
2. Piedmont (128)
3. Fulton Science Academy B (142)
4. Orlando Science A (171)
5. Dodgen A (171)
6. Taylor Road A (191)
7. River City Science Academy (194)
8. South Forsyth A (198)
9. Five Forks A (201)
10. Jay M. Robinson A (208)
Gold Flight:
1. South Forsyth B (96)
2. Hightower Trail (97)
3. Crews B (159)
4. Simpson (164)
5. Vickery Creek B (169)
6. Taylor Road B (180)
7. Five Forks B (190)
8. Northwestern A (206)
9. McCleskey (215)
10. Northwestern B (216)
Honestly, quite a bit of these results are all over the place. I'm just going to assume it's because many of these teams rarely go to a tournament this early.

Re: Chattahoochee B Invitational
The next Invitational in Georgia is the Chattahoochee B Invi. The line-up includes teams from several states including 3 National Qualifiers from last year. Interesting to see some teams repeatedly go to out-of-state tournaments, showing how much Invitationals are needed in their state (hint!). Will be interesting to see how everything plays out and awards are bound to be interesting - hopefully, they won't be too repetitive!

Re: Georgia 2019
I wasn't able to put up a medal sheet because Fulton County doesn't have any guest WiFi. Here are the results from Chattahoochee yesterday (which I'm posting today because I was too tired yesterday):
1. Piedmont - Red (138)
2. Dodgen - A (162)
3. Fulton Science Academy - 1 (189)
4. Piedmont - Black (211)
5. Wilmington Academy of Arts & Sciences (214)
6. Orlando Science School - A (248)
7. Taylor Road - 1 (271)
8. South Forsyth - Blue (313)
9. Prattville Christian - 1 (381)
10. Taylor Road - 2 (388)
Full Scores
Piedmont remains just as good as always, with one of their teams medaling in all but 4 events. Their manually stacked score is 95, with their lower-ranked team beating their higher-ranked team in 8 events. Dodgen and FSA are performing pretty much as expected, with strong but not overwhelming scores (it is worth noting that FSA's top team Battery Buggy scored participation only, while their other teams NSed the event, so I would say neither has a significant lead over the other). WAAS and OSS did about as well as I would have expected. Taylor Road and South Forsyth were both split - manual stacking lands them in the range of WAAS and OSS, although I would say they are slightly behind those two. Prattville finished highly as well - they may manage to beat OLV at state this year (which I don't believe typically happens). Vickery Creek, McCleskey, and River Trail round out the remaining usual Georgia contenders, alongside strong performances from Piney Grove and Simpson, both relatively new teams (3 and 2 years old respectively, if I remember correctly).

Re: Georgia 2019
Forgot to mention it earlier but (almost all of) the regional and state schedules are posted on the state website.
