Things2do has stated that he wanted to do Codebusters before... I think...

Well, since I'm pretty sure that the target is TCS, I protect myself because I don't want to die.

Not necessarily, codes play a big part in sassy games usually, i.e. Neil using dancing men in 116.
I can't tell how to take your information: on one hand, that's a good point. On the other: you know who the sassy is and due to that for whatever motive didn't take the officer spot. Mentioning this meaning that if you know the sassy, but don't want to give him or her away, then this information could be useless, or worst, deceit. (Sorry dxu, nothing personal or against you, just using logic)
Just saying, wouldn't I want the game to end early? I can't participate in this game anyway, so why would I try to deceive you? I'm not biased, I'm just stating a fact. You have to understand that not everything the sassy says or does is part of the clue - for example, if the sassy says haha, does it necessarily have a hidden meaning?

I protect Things2do because he has stated before that he wants to do Codebusters and because "things to do" can refer to a rebellion. And because we're almost out of time.

One of the “experts” on heat, TheChiScientist, broke off from the rest of the group to try to find out why it was getting so much hotter in the tunnel. He was about to fall into my trap...until he decided to go an alternate route towards the source of the heat (which totally isn’t my fault). Shame, he never did find the source of the heat.

Our explorers reach their first crossroads, where the path splits into two. The leaders were thinking of experimenting with both sides, until they found a piece of paper on the floor. One side was blank, while the other read as follows:

Ornithologist. 2 o clock. Pay attention to your environment.

Of course, that note means absolutely nothing and you should just ignore it.

So an ornithologist is someone who studies birds
OH WAIT it was an event back in 2010..
So someone who did it back in 2010 or is in ecology/enviro event currently?

The time could refer to the time when someone joined.

Kate! posted a post in the Illinois 2018 forum about ornithology at exactly 2:00 a.m UTC. And the pay attention to your environment part can refer to kate! stating the wrong state in one of her posts in that forum (also about ornithology).
EDIT: UTF's profile picture is a crane...
