Attaching the file or sending a link might help. What do you mean by not giving a heat score?LIPX3 wrote:I've been having a small problem with how scoring works this year, especially with the heat score. When I calculate the scores in Excel, the results make sense. However, when I put the exact same parameters into the official score sheet for Thermo, there are several problems. That spreadsheet will not give out a heat score for some teams, seemingly at random. Has anyone else noticed this?

Re: Thermodynamics B/C
I'd be very interested in hearing more about this. We've tested the spreadsheet quite a bit, but maybe there is an issue. Note that you won't get a heat score if you haven't filled in all the required fields for a team.LIPX3 wrote:I've been having a small problem with how scoring works this year, especially with the heat score. I would've liked to see a further breakdown of scores in the test packet. Most interested in how people's devices performed.

This year, since the scoring is based on a k-value instead of internal/external, will it be more adventageous to use a plastic beaker?

Re: Thermodynamics B/C
I would recommend getting both kinds and testing if there is a significant difference and if so which is better.CookiePie1 wrote:This year, since the scoring is based on a k-value instead of internal/external, will it be more adventageous to use a plastic beaker?

What might be a great site to research for thermodynamics?
I am new to this event so I need some help with the study material.

Re: Thermodynamics B/C
Khan academy is a good introduction to thermodynamics, and Hyperphysics is good for specific topics you're unsure about. Also, there is really nothing wrong with wikipedia. The scioly wiki for thermo is also a good read.MattChina wrote:hyperphysicsRaphael wrote:What might be a great site to research for thermodynamics?

Re: Thermodynamics B/C
Thermodynamics is an intersection between physics and chemistry.paulakim wrote:is this true the thermodynamics is a process of physics?
It is physics because it has to do with motion, heat, temperature, energy, kinetic theory, etc.
It is chemistry because it has to do with molecular structure, gases, chemical reactions, bonds, heat, energy, etc.
I would say that the topics covered in the rules lean more towards physics.
