So I know someone already asked about note sheet organization, but I too am curious about how, specifically, people like to lay out their notes. Last year, I broke down my note sheet by topic, essentially having one section for each bullet point on the rules sheet. The issue was that, especially as it grew to contain more information, I'd often run into terms which I remembered having put down on my note sheet, but which I had forgotten the meaning/general topic area of and had no good way of locating on the sheet in the limited time that I had. I thought multiple times about trying to implement an alphabetized glossary of terms whereby I could look up definitions quickly. The issue with that idea is that it wouldn't be an efficient use of space to have the same terms repeated both in a glossary and in a topic-organized section and if I used only a glossary then I would be sacrificing all of the benefits of a topic-organized system (which, on balance, are probably greater than the benefits of a glossary).

Has anyone else run into this problem/thought about possible solutions for it? Generally speaking, what organizational systems have worked for you guys for either DP or other note sheet events in past years?

I never did DP while the topic was glaciers, but Tarbuck is in general an okay starting point for a lot of different earth sciences topics?

Also, yes, I'm alive, I'm just at a university without a scioly competition so i don't check the forums much because there's not much i'm useful for?

I would suggest having both partners clearly understand all of the topics. The years I did DP (although it was tectonics), the tests were often pressed for time.

In Dynamic Planet, I feel that unless you are a complete expert, you will need a lot of note references; it'll, as stated above take time. Splitting the test has been crucial to running within time for Dynamic Planet in the past, until both partners are familiar enough with the materials to not need notes every other question. (which will take some time, given that Dynamic Planet usually picks an Earth Science which is not covered thoroughly in regular academia.)

I agree with what everyone else has said that you should have a pretty decent knowledge of everything, I guess things like history of ice ages/Milankovitch cycles might be a bit more different, but at best you'd want one partner to know that to a moderate level and the other partner to have more detailed knowledge, but since the questions are often all mixed together, even there it's just something where the more specialized expert could make an extra check of those questions at the end. It's not really an event that you can just rip apart the calculation section and the ID section or something like that and each partner works completely independently of the other on their section.

I wouldn't split the stuff up with my partner as you should have a general knowledge of all the topics as you don't really know whats going to happen to him on that day. Also your partner is never a reliable source to guarantee on so still have a good general knowledge on everything as your partner may need help with something and you can't help him at all. So have general knowledge on everything spiting might seem like a good idea but still be aware of reality. Plus if you split stuff you really can't split up the test at all as the test is categorized based on a specific thing. For example partner 1 could be landscapes while partner 2 could be history, say you have a 60 question test you split up into 30 question for each team member but partner 1 under stood questions 1-15 but was having trouble for the rest of his questions so partner 2 has to waste his time answering those question. Thus spiting up topics is not really a good idea!
