What do you all think about the effect of Texas losing its second bid on the national rankings? I mean obviously it will open a spot in the top 10, but do you think the Texas team attending nats will be better as a result of the change?

Also Unome where is Japan on your rankings :P

Why would the attending Texas team be better? IMO, they will be slightly worse because they will likely need to pour alot more effort into just getting out of the state and Texas has some state-specific events iirc which will take away from focusing on the national events. I think the only real effect we will see is another open spot in the top 10.

If desired, a Texas team can do the 23 national events and drop the 5 state-specific events - although, the top 3 usually do one or two of the Texas-specific events. The primary reason I ranked LASA (who I think is most likely to make it) ahead of Mounds View was because I think they'll be a little stronger going into state to get a bid.

I wouldn't say so this year, because it happened pretty late.
But I think that in future years, it may boost Texas teams because they would be studying extra hard to get that one spot?

That's what I was thinking, but I forgot that Texas had so many Texas-only events. It will be interesting to see how they do. I certainly don't think they'll do worse.
