Sorry 'bout that; didn't realize I hadn't set it up for open sharing. Just recently learned about how to use google docs. Believe this will do the trick

Another option is to upload directly here as an attachment. This helps in case you delete the file and someone years in the future want to reference it. Please let me know if you see any issues with attachments in any event forums; it is something that took a couple tries to get right last season.

Thanks, Bernard for raising that possibility. That would be cool and convenient, and appreciated.
Early in the season last year it worked, and I was able to do a post with attachment (of a discussion w/ drawings on how bracing works). Then, when I tried a week or so later, it wouldn't work. I gave up, and ended up posting a lot of very long wordy descriptions of things that a single picture or little table would have explained. That's why I went to google docs this year as a way to provide pics and spreadsheets.

My plan with this post was to try an attachment, but I don't see anything/anywhere on the screen to do that...... nothing under "options", nothing anywhere else.
What am I missing/not seeing; how does one do an attachment?

Thanks

It may be doing the same glitch it was doing last year. In the meantime while I look for solutions, I've attached the file for you to your original post.

Has anyone tried rolled tubes? theoretically it should work but I don't know if it can be pulled off.

Someone did try it in 2012 or so (here); seemed to worked well enough to be promising, but difficult to do consistently.

OK, here's something interesting to contemplate; a few calcs around leg angles and how forces on tower legs (at 15kg tower load) compare to last year. This comparison looks at forces on lower/base section legs and upper."chimney" section legs you'll need to use this year, vs the one piece/single legs you were able to use last year. The 'leg angles' are the angle the leg segments need to lean in toward the vertical centerline of the tower.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Exact dimensions will depend on the amount of safety clearance from max/min limitations of the rules you choose to use (and cross section dimension you use), but variation from dimensions I've used here will be small enough to not materially change the calculation of forces the legs will see.
If you did towers last year, this will give you a handle on how you'll need to adjust leg strength to hold up under this year's rules. Pretty significant bump for C-Div.
If you didn't, this gives you a handle on leg (segment) strengths you'll need to have. Enjoy....

Hey Everyone,
How would you go about building a jig for a base-chimney design?
In addition, would a straight legged chimney or a base-chimney design perform better. I personally think that a Base-chimney design would be more effective, even though it is harder to build.

Thanks (yall are the best)
