So in 2016 our team was look very good we were consecutively beating power house schools. So at regionals our team got first over our rival middle school and was going to state. At state we had a pretty successful day get a record score in Mission possible and Bridges. So it was time for Awards and 19/22 of our events placed (bottle rockets was trialed). We thought we were going to go to nationals. It was time for the final ranks. 6th,5th,4th and then 3rd place they said the team that got 3rd place lost by four points and then announced our school. We were very sad very disappointed and I can surly say that was not a fun bus ride home. The day after states we were more determined then ever. We started practices for the 2017 year before nationals and we coming in strong! We were doing fairly well at our invitationals but not as good as 2016. Then it was regionals time again we pulled out a first place again but it was very close. We studied like our lives depended on it. Then the day that gave us nightmares States. Our team was very nervous and could not forget about the year before. The competition was amazing all day. The reports coming back to home room about each event sounded better than before. Our Mission and Tower again broke our best scores ever. Then it was the time we dreaded Awards. Our team looked like we we crazy or something some ids were rolling on the floor some walking in circles and some trying to sleep to act like it was tomorrow. We placed in 18/23 we didn't know how it went. We all thought we lost and were all depressed. Team awards then came on 6th Not us, 5th Not us, 4th Not us, 3rd we all prepared for them to call our name to send us in our downward spiral. Then the they announced it 3rd Place Not us we all were sure we didn't place at all. Then they announced second not us we were very confused and definitely thought that the events that we placed in got last place and we got seventh. 1st place at you state tournament going to nationals. OUR TEAM! We all jumped up screaming probably deafening the audience. We finally did it we made it to nationals. I personally could not go to sleep that night I was so full of energy. So one thing I have definitely learned from science olympiad is that never give up and you get what you put in.

Ah, I couldn't see the state on a phone - that would have given it away of course.ScottMaurer19 wrote:I looked at the signature and stateTailsfan101 wrote:I figured out his/her school by getting about halfway through the first sentence, then looking at the state and username.Unome wrote: You know you've been in scioly for too long when... Re: Proudest Moments
my proudest moment had to have been at the garnet valley invitational, walking out of mystery architecture. My partner and i went into the event having no idea what we were doing because we never practiced for this event and the task was to build a the tallest and thinnest tower possible out of 4 sheets of paper, 2 envelopes, 50cm of tape, and 2 straws. We just winged it and rolled up and stacked the materials. We then looked around the room and saw that we had the tallest and the thinnest one. I think I was the happiest Ive ever been, just walking out of that classroom. ( for the record we got 7th place which may not seem like a lot, was actually a huge deal for a team that was basically considered a joke because we have maybe 3 somewhat dedicated coaches who actually coach and maybe 13 or so dedicated members that actually put effort in, not to mention we kind of go to a crap school that gives zero funding and zero practice time.) i was just so proud to show the rest of the team that even though we have a lot of disadvantages, we still have the ability to succeed.

Re: Proudest Moments
My proudest moment was when I got 2nd place in Fermi at regionals. I know that doesn't sound that impressive compared to everyone else out there, but that was my first year.
It was pretty good because all the work paid off. 4 months of studying was truly worth it.
It also felt good that I still did well despite the fact that my partner came to the event 20 minutes late because of a schedule problem.

Re: Proudest Moments
Proudest moment would be either:
-(somehow) placing 6th at 2017 nats in div b hovercraft, despite not actually knowing half the physics on the test, or
-placing 1st at 2019 regionals in astro, despite being one of 2 alternates for the event and not studying at all

Re: Proudest Moments
My proudest moment would definitely be medalling in all four of my events at States after not medalling at all at Regionals (very embarrassing) and helping my team get to Nats!

Mine would be placing 1st in all three events at Regionals. Second place would be two 4th places at state, and third place would be my first gold medal (crime at valpo invy)

Re: Proudest Moments
My proudest moment is probably winning Dynamic Planet at Yale 2018. I didn’t have my regular partner, so I was kinda soloing the event, and the test was great, really long, in depth, and all written. It probably took a long time to grade, so they ended up delaying Dynamic Planet awards for the very end, so the hype was unreal. The teams there were quite strong, so I was really surprised to have won lol it was a bright patch in what was otherwise a pretty dark time in my life
Either that or winning Dynamic Planet at Division B States in 2017 lol
