That's a good showing at regionals, Naps. Were you the Sumo driver?
He was the Sumo driver of the B team.
Right. You had a black spatula with holes on the front (of the Sumo, not of Naps!). I was sure you were going to beat your A team - looked like a nice bot.

Haha. Spatula. Seems effective, though. My team's using a license plate.

Is sumo good w or w/o partners? My team started out with 9 people for sumo--everyone on the team but one girl. Now it only has 4 people I believe.

Yeah, there are a lot of inside jokes between partners. My ornithology partner and I had a LOT of bird jokes, particularly about the Red-Eyed Vireo. (Phonetic bird call: I will seize you and squeeze you! QUEESH!)

In conclusion, having partners is fun at times but is kinda . . . meh when it comes to competition day.

Our sumo team got first in both invites. There were two kids working on it, but one guy really took charge of the building - of which there was not much, anyways. At the competition, he would drive while the partner whispered moves and tactics. It's nice to have one person really know the robot and have another eye to watch out for things you might miss while driving.

Oh gosh, my partner and I can't stop laughing about the "butter butt." And the gray catbird. (;

I somewhat enjoy having a partner. Sure, sometimes I think I could do it on my own, but I'd make a stupid mistake. Being able to talk it out with someone listening, that's a great help. If you start talking to yourself, odds are people will think you're crazy.

and it just makes studying/working more fun. doing everything yourself is NOT interesting, no matter how good winning by yourself feels

I'll agree with that. Having a partner is fun, and winning by yourself (like I did Yesterday- despite the fact that both my partners were very talented people they were assigned to me at the last minute, and I carried the bulk of the event- plus I did Sumo completely alone) is an amazing feeling.

I hope for that in Anatomy!

My poor Write It Do It partner has no partner for Astronomy and this is her first year in Science Olympiad. I might take the test with her (she wants moral support) but I'll feel bad not being able to help her really. She's a smart girl though and I'm sure she'll do well on her own.

I'm surprised there wasn't more Sumo interest on your team, paleonaps. Here the whole team is into it and those of us who aren't competing are going to watch and cheer obnoxiously. :lol: Ours is named the DOME-INATOR. Its an epic dome. :D
