Scioly Assassination 51: Where No One Has Died Before

Congratulations. You got me. I am the assassinator. I still get to keep my 100% kill rate though. I'd rather have had this round go better in several ways, but it was a learning experience. I was hoping that being active would take suspicion away from me, but it backfired. The current clue was pointing to sweetcoop, I'll come on later and explain the rest of the clues.

It appears I have been caught (as evidenced in the previous post). I am zyzzyva98, winneratlife will pm me the next choice to be an assassinator when he so chooses. But may I recommend we take a break from the games and try to organize them? Things have gotten a bit complicated, maybe we take a step back and reflect on the past few games, which really haven't been all that good. I tried not to make my clues too vague, and put some hints in other text, but I understand that what may seem obvious to yourself may not be as obvious as you think. So here's how the clues went:

Clue #1: You all clued in on the bold part right away, but not what the real hint was, the "initial" clue. To solve the clue, you locate the cities each coordinate is located in, and take the first letter of the city. You should get: MREWLLRFFTLOHWTAEBISL. The bold coordinates were in there to throw you off, they were not necessary to solve the clue and should be thrown out (making this clue substantially harder.) After you throw these out, you put it through an anagram machine and get: ROBERT WILL FALL. You also get this if you organize the points from West to East.

Clue #2: This was a cryptogram based on colors, which several people guessed. Fourise breaks down into "four is E," meaning that the fourth box was E, and other boxes with the same color were also E. The completed cryptogram would read, "Modern Day Greek Mythology," refering to Percy Jackson and the Olympians, a series pjolala had in his/her signature for some time prior to the game and has also mentioned elsewhere.

Clue #3: You probably needed the hint here, which would have referenced in some way "Your Daily Random Comment, page 319." On this page amerikestrel described this: http://lab.andre-michelle.com/tonematrix. After inserting the string of numbers (with commas after the 4th digit, 8th digit, as described by the bottom numbers), you get the phrase "fmtiger will die."

Clue #4: Was pointing to sweetcoop, after translating the morse code you get a jumble of letters, organizing them in a 6x6 square you get the names of six players on the Colorado Rockies roster, which sweetcoop is apparently a fan of.

So I'd appreciate some feedback on how I did, what I can do better, what I did well for my first time. I enjoyed it, especially the times on chat where robotman was laughing in the background as I "worked" on the clue with robodude. And hopefully, next round will go much smoother.

All in all, make the clues simpler. It IS in fact possible to make clues hard, but simple. They should be hard enough to not be able to solve, but easy enough to understand. I still don't understand the solution to most of them... Very nice idea, supper creative round. However, a fun round must be supported by good clues. Awesome ideas, however. Just work on the clues and you could be an awesome assassin.

a) I agree. I think I will see what I can do to find a good assassinator next round.

b) How were we supposed to find the cities? After all, some of the coordinates ended up pretty close to borderlines/middle of nowhere.

I was referring to the general trend. To find the cities, I took the addresses of the three buildings that form a triangle around the point, (which is how I did it when I listed the cities for the officers) and made sure they were all from the same city. If they were, it's clear that the point is also in the city. And I gave you all the cities anyway, so it doesn't matter.

To robodude: Yeah, red herrings aren't anything special. Something to lead someone off track? You can't exactly say that that is your trademark specifically. Your round (the best out of the last five, I'll add, IMHO) did revolve around red herrings, but it's not something that you can really claim.

Thanks for the opportunity, RandomPerson52. I enjoyed it, and next time I'll be sure to make the clues simpler. I will say that the next clue was going to be straightforward and point very clearly to the victim. Now I eagerly await the next round, and hope it gets done really fast because I can't participate.
