you're trying to increase the speed of your buggy?

i'm honestly wondering what type of speeds you need to stay competitive at a really competitive state or nationals...

guess what.... I placed 2nd at the delaware states in battery buggy!!!!! my school placed 7th and 10th

anyone else have results from their competitions?

I'm using a very simple BB design but i'm a little worried about the drivetrain. I have a rubber band going directly from the motor to the outside of the wheel. it works perfectly but i'm not sure if it's legal. It was fine at maryland (we went as a sort of trial) and virginia regionals but i'm worried about states.

would it be possible to see a picture or diagram of how it looks I can't picture it?

The rubber band which is my drivetrain is over the wheel and it says that nothing but the wheels can touch the ground but still they've let i slide before?

i'm pretty sure it could go either way.
if it's over the wheel, obviously the rules say only the wheels can touch the ground. I honestly won't risk it. however I have come to see that lots of building event supervisors don't exactly know all the rules very well, so maybe if you're lucky....? but taking that chance isn't exactly ideal.

i'd suggest some modification to your design, although I don't know it well, prehaps tying the rubber band over the axle or something..... i'm not sure.
when's your competition? if you have some time i'd suggest you do use the threaded rod/wingnut method as it's rather easy to build.

The rubberband is part of the wheel! Any event supervisor who rules otherwise probably doesn't need a fan in their bathroom.

just wondering, but what are you guys using as your chassis material?
i'm using half inch wood, it's pretty durable (i can't ID the type of wood, but it's kinda heavy).

Maybe change it to balsa wood now? Kinda scared though that balsa would break, it's extremely easy to break, which is rather unfortunate.

one of our battery buggy's uses plastic, the other uses plexiglass
