Mystery Architecture is different. On site you're given a bunch of materials and you have to do something with them (build the tallest tower, widest bridge, raft that holds the most pennies, etc.)
Sounds like a trial event we have every year at Regionals...
This sounds like a trial event I did at Regionals in 6th except that went by the name of Mystery Engineering. Does anyone know if that is a separate event or is there just an ambiguous name for it?
I believe they are the same

So on a different note, how was Electric Wright Stuff received, @chalker and @chalker7? Will it be considered to be added to the aeronautic event rotation? Same goes for the other trial events held at nationals.

Random note about
Electric Wright Stuff Capacitor - it was held previously as a trial at 2011 Nationals.

This is just speculation, but I'd expect a lot more questions about boiled potatoes with an internal temperature of 91 degrees Celsius...
maybe a few separable differential equations
Haven't seen any rules next year's for Thermodynamics but generally calculus is avoided on tests as it may be difficult for younger high schoolers who may have not taken the course.
If I'm writing a test, I'm less interested in your ability to solve questions using advanced math and more interested in seeing your ability to solve more complicated questions even when the math is simpler.
I believe this is a joke on the BC calc exam frq #4 which asked about the internal heat of a potato and how it changed lol.

Yes, everyone generally like it and we are proposing adding it to the rotation. Ditto for Roller Coaster, Indoor Bottle Rockets, and Rotor Egg Drop.

Ok so this year was my first year in scioly and I'm anxious to start work for next season.. when are the tentative event outlines and conflict schedules posted? Or is it irregular?

The nationals schedule is included in the rules, which are released the first week of September. I'm not sure how well the competitions you go to follow the nationals schedule (did nationals follow the nationals schedule well?), but you could probably compare this past season's schedules for a decent idea.
To add a bit of flexibility for conflicts next year, I'd recommend working with an extra event or two during the summer, and then dropping one or two as stuff starts back up in the fall.

I've attempted to find some sort of pattern but it's generally pretty difficult.
This year, only 5 events switch out so it's likely that the schedule is relatively similar to this year's (this happened from 2015 to 2016 as well iirc, the schedule had a couple swaps but was generally the same)

Side note: IL doesn't follow the National conflict blocks (and they're usually posted in the first half of September...if nothing else, I watch for them like a hawk and, then, send them to everyone in town

). This could matter for your team because, for example, you can't assume that Experimental is relatively conflict-free when, in fact, it conflicts with a bunch of other things on the RS levels. Because I've seen no obvious pattern, I usually recommend practicing for a single event until the blocks are available to be safe or whatever.
