it says the key "isn't bottom, but..." maybe something has to do with 'top'

!!! I put it in a keyed caesar cipher with the key, TOP. I got smaug and norbert (ahem... dragons). Protect dragon_fruit?
Smaug and Norbert are dragons in Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter (which you should know
)

Just in case perhaps protect panda as well cause LOTR/HP? Protect dragonfruit first though.
