Well, I 'checked' my answer and it seems to be right, so I am just going to post a new bird. I'll give you a hint: it is a raptor.

What effect does DDT have on birds?

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude. I 'checked' my answer by left clicking the image and hitting 'Save as.' The name of the image is pretty self evident. Which brings up a good point, people should run their images through an image hosting site (tinypic or imageshack) to prevent any less honorable people from cheating.

Yay! I finally got here in time to see an unanswered picture for once.

I'm going to say that the bird is a Red-Tailed Hawk. Am I right? I'm not too good at identifying yet.

And DDT weakens the eggshells of birds, resulting in eggs that kind of fall apart before they hatch.

Not a Red-Tailed. But you are right about the DDT.

I was close. At least I got the DDT part. Was it Swainson's?

Yeah... also, the image is listed on this page as a redstart.

And I don't exactly run this, I just came up with the idea and started the thread.

Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to put in my 2 cents on the hawk image.

The face looks sort of like the Northern Harrier but the markings aren't right, so I'd have to say Cooper's Hawk. I might be wrong though; I haven't really studied hawk identification that much.
