Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C
Hey everyone,
I'm wondering how yall attach your fins. I use foam fins and tape them to the bottle and the attachment breaks every 1 or 2 launches (simply from the fins impacting the ground). Does anyone have suggestions on a more durable and rigid way to attach fins?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C
i'd suggest working on getting your rocket to fly straighter then so that it doesn't land sideways. You could go the gorilla tape route with the fins but it would be beneficial for your release to straighten out the flight anywaysxiangyu wrote: ↑January 4th, 2020, 10:32 am Hey everyone,

Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C
The rocket does go up super straight and mostly comes down straight so I have my parachute relase system all workes out. It's just that after the rocket falls down half way it starts to turn sideways, should I try to get rid of this tilt so late into the flight?will0416 wrote: ↑January 4th, 2020, 12:23 pmi'd suggest working on getting your rocket to fly straighter then so that it doesn't land sideways. Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C
If your release is fine it's probably not really worth messing with the bottle that much then. I guess stronger tape or just removing fins would work, I'm not actually sure fins do that much lolxiangyu wrote: ↑January 4th, 2020, 12:41 pmThe rocket does go up super straight and mostly comes down straight so I have my parachute relase system all workes out. Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C
I disagree. Fins are the best way to make sure that the bottle rocket actually flies upwards.will0416 wrote: ↑January 5th, 2020, 3:08 pmIf your release is fine it's probably not really worth messing with the bottle that much then. Re: Ping Pong Parachute B/C
not sure if we mentioned this already but are there any ways to prevent flipping at the peak height? other than the tube design

The tube design actually promotes flipping at peak heightCookiePie1 wrote: ↑January 5th, 2020, 5:15 pm not sure if we mentioned this already but are there any ways to prevent flipping at the peak height? other than the tube design
You can shift the center of gravity downwards toward the center of pressure by adding weight to the bottom, or move the center of pressure upwards toward the center of gravity by reducing the size of the fins.
