They shouldn't be. Unfortunately, they probably are at some tournaments.

Chances are there's also lines in the floor boards or tiles - although those are definitely less dependable.

What lines are you refering to? I have only ever seen tape on the ground showing where the launcher goes. Is there supposed to be a center line taped down?

Thanks, wlsguy.

Well, I'm eating crow right now. It does not taste like chicken, it tastes like an unwanted laser pointer. After losing two tournaments to a school with a laser, our coach bought (despite reading my arguments on this site without me knowing)... guess what? A laser! Gee... I'm embarrassed. I feel that one point is not worth the risk of a DQ but apparently, I, the veteran trajectory man, have been outvoted. And Ms. Hansen, if you are reading this, this is not a blog, it is a forum. Hence the word "Forums" all over the place.
Since you have just added a laser, you are probably the best person to let us know how it works out. Let us know.
When is your next competition?

 Haha. But out of the goodness of my heart, I'll tell you the date:

Next competition date is regionals - in my sig (see? February 30!) I'm still not sure if we're actually using the laser or if were just using it to correct our "jumping" problem I outlined a month or two ago on this thread. I'll get some more info this afternoon at practice.

Breaking News: We have decided that the laser isn't really necessary for the straight shots, as andrewwski described. We will probably use it for the bucket shots.

what i thought was funny about the Platte city meet was every time you launched and didn't hit the pin there were two boys clapping an making fun of you but when it was their turn their trebuchet did worse than you did :))

I do find it interesting that the teams that laugh at your shots normally think 1000 is a good score, and normally score higher than that, and normally are a bit disappointed when you take first.

yeah. 1000's not a good score. Hence me saying, "they think 1000 is a good score"
