Favorite Book

Recently, we read Jane Eyre, which I liked, Song of Solomon, which I hated, and Dubliners, which is really really boring. Last year, I liked The Great Gatsby. The Crucible, and Catcher in the Rye, and Grapes of Wrath was the most boring book I've ever read (or didnt read, as I spark noted most of it after suffering through the first few chapters).

i think those books (the clay dragons) have a too simple plot and wording, a bit basic for me.

Same here; I read them years ago, and they were still too easy. I just thought that it was a unique idea.

the Brsingr book was awesome(agreed, the author should write it faster), and so was raven rise.

Brisingr was awesome. I love what was told about Eragon's family. I haven't read Raven Rise though; I have only read part of the book before it.

just wondering, what are some books you guys are required to read in school?

We haven't had to read anything big yet, but for our teacher's book club, we read The Wizard of Oz, and Treasure Island. (Actually, I only read one chapter of Treasure Island)

KITE RUNNER by Khaled Hosseini is the best
Of Mice and Men is amazing, Steinbeck is great author
1984 + Brave New World - George Orwell
Hawthorne is another great author
James Joyce is wicked and crazy with all the analysis and interpretation he included in almost every single line of his writing

orwell is good because he tells you straight up what the book means and its hard to misinterpret

Of Mice and Men was the only Steinbeck book I liked. Not that he's a bad author, but historical fiction just doesnt appeal to me. 1984 was awesome, I loved that book, never read Kite Runner, but I heard that it was horrendously depressing (could be wrong though), liked "The Scarlet Letter", and then theres James Joyce. Im all for inflated diction, but his books are just filled with it to the brim. I also heard that Finnegan's Wake was one of the most convoluted, hard to understand books in existence.

Alex Rider Series by Anthony Horowitz (I loved these ones)
Maximum Ride by James Patterson
Joan Lowery Nixon's Books (I loved all the mystery ones I have read almost all of them I think)
Michigan and American Chillers by Jonathan Rand (I have all of them!)
Scream Museum forget the authors name and the other books in the series)
Haunted Lake (insert great lakes name here)
There are so many others too... these are just my top ones
