Clostridium and Botulism are basically the same thing, since the pathogen is Clostridium Botulinum.

While it's true that the causative agent of botulism is Clostridium botulinum, there is also Clostridium perfringens, which is what I assumed prelude to mean.

Wait, Clostridium isn't even a disease...it's a bacterial genus name.
I'm guessing that just refers to the diseases caused by Clostridium spp.?
That reminds me, we had this tie-breaker on our regionals test that told us to name as many food-borne illnesses and their causative agents as we could. I just wrote down "Clostridium perfringens infection" or "Clostridium dificile infection" for those two, but are there actual names for those diseases?

Oh ok, that makes sense. In that case, though, maybe change "clostridium" to "perfrigens" or something. That way you won't get mixed up with botulism and the other one.

I mean, It would make sense because the "# infected" in the numerator AND denominator would cancel out, creating dying/exposed, so I think it is correct.

So, I'm doing this event again this year, and I was wondering: What food-borne illnesses do you guys memorize the symptoms and stuff of - if any at all?
