Sure they grow in the wild. They were introduced and ended up growing well in the climate; in some cases, they grow so well that they become pests (purple loosestrife, kudzu, etc.).amerikestrel wrote:Yes, but not necessarily in the wild.kjhsscioly wrote:Even being non-native, they still have to grow in North America, no?

Not always (Ginkgo, etc.). Those trees are almost always cultivated.gneissisnice wrote:Sure they grow in the wild. Re: Preliminary:Forestry
I have seen patches of gingko growing wild (albeit in forest preserves), and they are fairly common in neighborhoods, though not invasive.

I believe that White Mulberry is more common in cultivation.kjhsscioly wrote:I have seen patches of gingko growing wild (albeit in forest preserves), and they are fairly common in neighborhoods, though not invasive.

Is there a chance that we will have to know tree rings and general knowledge about trees?

Re: Preliminary:Forestry
Absolutely. If you want the best preparation, try to get an advanced or AP bio textbook and study the plant evolution and physiology chapters. Photosynthesis might also be useful.tuftedtitmouse12 wrote:Is there a chance that we will have to know tree rings and general knowledge about trees?
