Re: Rotors
Oh okay. Most helicopter rotors built with 1/16 square balsa frames show similar behavior. Mine does that too, but I didn't try to specifically design it into my helicopter.

Re: Rotors
By the way, what kind of pitch exactly are you guys using for your rotors? Height and width at the end of the rotors or the exact pitch, if you know.
I am using around 18.5 degrees for both rotors.

Re: Rotors
I am assuming the 18.5 degrees is at the tips of the rotors? I am using height (vertical spacing) of around 1.3 inches, and the tips are separated by about 4 inches. But i'm still working on optimizing the pitch. What is the height and width of your rotors?thewinner wrote:By the way, what kind of pitch exactly are you guys using for your rotors? Re: Rotors
Those are large rotors illusionist...Mine are like 2.75 tip to tip and 1 inch height.

Re: Rotors
The vertical spacing of my rotors is about 2.85 cm and the width at the tips is 8.6 cm. In inches it would be about 1.12 in (height) and about 3.4 in (width).
I win.

Re: Rotors
I remeasured my rotors, and they are actually 3.75 at the tips.lllazar wrote:Those are large rotors illusionist...Mine are like 2.75 tip to tip and 1 inch height.
That might explain why i need to use thick rubber. I'll try your dimensions.
Is there any way I can change the tip to tip distance without having to rebuild my rotors? My local hobby store is currently out of 1/16 balsa

Re: Rotors
Also, do you think Helicopters is going to be a B event next year?
Sorry if this isn't the right thread.

You might want to ask jander14indoorthewinner wrote:Also, do you think Helicopters is going to be a B event next year?

Btw, if I may ask, if you're in division B, why are you doing Helicopters? (Don't mean to be rude)
