Re: Illinois 2019
Hamilton from Wisconsin generally is. They've won their state tournament 9 straight years and are the heavy favorites to make it 10 straight this year. They've been in the national top 20 for three straight years and have an outside chance at cracking the top 10.fiddhantfen wrote:They look to be a serious contender for Nationals this year...knightmoves wrote:The Hamilton that was at Rockford is the Madison team.fiddhantfen wrote: Hamilton JHS...they were really good at the Rockford invite

Re: Illinois 2019
It's clear that the the top 2 for Illinois state is going to be anyone from DW, TG, MM, or, SAA. Since DW is a guarantee, it's going to be a battle between the other 3. TG has been an especially strong side this season, and my expectation will be them going to Nats along with DW. Though Marie Murphy is an exceptional team, and that they beat TG both last year in state, and in UChicago, they will not have what it takes to take down a determined and constantly underrated TG. SAA doesn't come into the picture for top 2, in my opinion, so my guess is it will be...
1. Daniel Wright
2. Twin Groves
3. Marie Murphy
4. Science And Arts Academy
What do you guys think?

Re: Illinois 2019
TG should be taken out of the top 3. While they did come close to beating SAA at regionals, SAA just has more experience and is coming from a decent nats finish last year. I think that MM will win the 2nd nats bid, going off of tradition and probably a very big motivation coming from last year's loss.HarishSathish wrote:It's clear that the the top 2 for Illinois state is going to be anyone from DW, TG, MM, or, SAA. So,

2. MM
3. SAA
4. TG
If you're from Twin Groves (and I think you are given your stance), I'm sorry for the not-so-encouraging words. This is just my opinion, and it's not fact. Anything can happen, I guess we'll just have to wait until (insert states date here) to find out.

Re: Illinois 2019
I think you are from Twin Groves, you speak with a large bias towards them. I do not believe that the battle for 2nd will be as simple as you claim it to be. The score will be tight, with the gaps between scores being single digit numbers.HarishSathish wrote:It's clear that the the top 2 for Illinois state is going to be anyone from DW, TG, MM, or, SAA. Re: Illinois 2019
Yeah I agree...I have a heavy bias to one school over another and wish that this is one of those underdog moments, but it may be just as likey that TG does not even place in the top 5. With 4 weeks left, its only a matter of how much work people put in for state.dxu46 wrote:TG should be taken out of the top 3. Re: Illinois 2019
All right, perhaps TG doesn't make the top 2, but if you pay attention to past years, Twin Groves has narrowly lost to SAA once before. (Lisle Invitational 2017). Though I do have a bias, this information cannot be passed off. Twin Groves has come close one too many times, and so they have what it takes to beat Science And Arts. Again, this is just a hope, don't get me wrong for being overconfident or overly bias, but this is very plausible.

That was 2 years ago, dude... this information can definitely be passed off. Entire teams have died in 2 years. Coaches have changed. Teams are probably completely different.HarishSathish wrote:All right, perhaps TG doesn't make the top 2, but if you pay attention to past years, Twin Groves has narrowly lost to SAA once before. Re: Illinois 2019
If you think that Twin Groves making nats is very plausible, I'm going to have to kindly disagree. Although they have a shot at defeating SAA, they still have to beat Marie Murphy, who I believe are going to get second at Illinois states this year. This is seems highly unlikely as Marie Murphy has put up some good showings this year, and I don't think they'll be easily defeated.HarishSathish wrote:All right, perhaps TG doesn't make the top 2, but if you pay attention to past years, Twin Groves has narrowly lost to SAA once before.
