Now that history is history, you don't have to study history any more! But instead, now you have to study the history of history (by learning names of all the famous historians, memorizing their opinions, and so forth).

Granted, but since the materials they consist of are not recycled back into the earth, the world slowly becomes depleted of organic matter as more books are printed, eventually leaving all the world's accumulated knowledge with nobody to inherit it.
