MSO results (I didn't run it, so high level)
9 perfect scores
winning time just over a minute
didn't see the weights, but second and third were decided by mass, not time.

Ohio State Competition
We took third with a score of about 1:46. Our best time in practice was 1:15, but we had some flub-ups.

It appears there were 8 perfect scores at OSU.

Wow, I hope PA isn't that competitive.

Okay, so the rules state that the event supervisor is going to ask you to locate 4 robot parts as specified on the technical documentation. So on my technical documentation I have it labeled with things like 'motor 1' , 'motor 2' , and 'battery box a' . So will I have to know which motor is motor 1? And if so, can I label the motors?

Have you studied the rules and FAQs? Have you found anyplace it says you can't label things?

I have studied all of the rules, FAQ's, and rules clarifications. It doesn't say you can't label stuff, but sometimes you get 'vigilante' supervisors who judge based on 'what the rules actually ment'

Yeeeaahhh...
Don't get me started.

That kind of ES might have something to do with why I'm so involved with SO now when my kids are out of college. Might even explain how my daughter got started on the path to being a national event supervisor.

In their defense though, they are all hard working volunteers giving freely of their time. Recognize their service and that they are doing things with the best of intentions. My thanking that ES of years ago and volunteering to help was the second step on the road to where I am now.

And that also is one of the many reasons I make sure to warn people that what I say is NOT official.

Don't forget, there is always an appeal process. As a tournament director, while I dread appeals, I try not to discourage them, and we always investigate them carefully. They are the only way to make something change if needed. Your appeal may be rejected, but it will be noted.

And yes, I still haven't answered your question directly, for all the reasons noted. Of course there is nothing stopping you from submitting a FAQ to www.soinc.org and getting an official answer that will be binding at nationals and most lower tournaments. Unless closed for the year. I'm not sure when they'll cut them off.

Any idea if Robo Cross will be radically different next year?
