I spoke with a Strath Haven guy and he says that his team is definitely afraid of Shady Side. And if we though Strath Haven was good, what is Shady Side?

I'd say, based SOLELY on regional results, Strath Haven has to be the favorite for states. Not only was their score better, but they did so in a region that has historically been more competitive. Also, SE had more teams than SW. So while Shady Side had very good invitationals results, Strath Haven had a better regional showing. So it's very close right now, and both teams probably recognize that it will be very difficult to beat the other.

Is it just me or are there lower regional scores across the country this year? I don't think I'd ever seen a team score under ~45 until this year. It'll be interesting to see if that continues through the rest of the year.

Once the Regional scores get so low, it's hard to distinguish between a score of 57 and 50. Just one event out of the top 10 will get you a much higher score. There's not really any comparison either, since we didn't go to Solon this year :(

However, winning the Wright State Invitational was an incredible feat (that was several months ago, though). We'll just have to wait until April 26th to see what team emerges as state champion!

I was also very impressed with Allen, JT Lambert, and Abington Heights so far this year. After Central East has had their Regional, I'll assume Allen is going to States and post my top 10 prediction :) (although it's very hard to predict this year, and I've been pretty far off in the past). However, for division C, Harriton is by far the favorite team. I wouldn't be surprised if they come in the top 5 at Nationals this year either...

I would be surprised if they weren't afraid of Shady Side, though I'm sure Shady Side is just as scared of them.

I'd agree with East that Strath Haven has to be the favorite, though only by the slimmest of margins. It would be much more interesting if it were a close contest like that for 2nd/3rd instead of the top two. Unfortunately, Welsh Valley/Bala Cynwyd seemed far enough behind at SE regionals that I'd be shocked to see them force an upset.

I don't know about you guys, but I feel that regionals dont tell anything. At southwest( and im guessing at other regionals also) the evens were not all ran correctly, for example, the only had one of the two parts for metric mastery, and my friend told me that they were not timing the mousetraps.

States this year is going to be incredibly intense, especially for the B-division teams. I am kinda excited just to start predicting placings for each event.

Official placements for Central East are here: http://www.kutztown.edu/acad/physci/oly ... sults.html

Wow, Whitehall Coplay won by 1 point! Did Park Forest get moved from a different region? I don't think they were in Central East last year.
