You don't even need o-rings (although they are nice). We put one end on the winder, the other end is looped onto a straight piece of wire. One person winds, one person holds the wire. To put it on the helicopter, the person with the winder pinches the rubber and takes it off the winder, and hooks it onto the helicopter. Next, the person with the wire will pinch the rubber, twist it so it gets loose enough to pull off the wire, and attaches that end to the helicopter.

Hmm so i did some extensive rubber testing for the past hour or so, and it's been pretty amazing. I was getting 850 winds, winding on the copter, and with a simple jig and torque meter, i got an easy 1100 winds on the rubber (1/8). How much more time do you think this could add to my duration, given that the copter was flying fine before this? Also, the falling time is about 25 seconds.

Yep saw this done at regionals, without o-rings. They fought with it for a while but did get it and did well.

Im just curious ( we use 1/8 single loop with 1200ish winds), to see if there is anything we could apply to our own winding technique.
I don't know how much better you can get than what you're doing... I was under the impression 1200 was just about the breaking point of 1/8 if you're using 2.00 grams. We've been doing 900 winds at most because SOMEbody's afraid of the rubber snapping and hurting them. :P (I know it's also because it could cause damage to the copter, though, since we wind directly on it)
Hey, I wasn't the one hopping around with a stinging hand a regionals when the rubber recoiled back...

I hate to spam the thread but can anyone answer my question from a few posts back?

When flying it on 850 winds, how many winds were left when it landed?

If you were able to put in more winds because you were more comfortable winding off the helicopter then this could increase your time considerably. If the increase in winds is due to a different factor (perhaps something inherent with the rubber band) than do not expect a large increase.
