Well, it's useful if you are on an outcropping and see a trilobite fossil sticking out of the ground, but other than that.... not really useful.

but do you know how much time it would take to make a field guide? I dont know about you, but i have other events to worry about. like ecology.

Making a field guide would take a considerable amount of time, but it would be worth it because if you make your own field guide than you should have a better knowledge of all of the organisms than if you just buy one.

I worked on my binder 2 hours a week (Well, every Sunday) for half a year.

argh, sciencegirl, do you remember the states question regarding which cephalopods were the closest related? what did you put?
