To explain the last clue, as well as the vague self clue:
The pad, when changing countries names to groups (which I said was half right, as in correct for half the clue, which had to be the pad as some in the text DNQ): ABDEGFBCAG. The bold meant nothing.
In the text, you should have noticed that no rank went beyond 26. So, it was translated with ranks, with 1=A, etc. That became SODOKWJXEX (I believe, I'm translating in my head)
Putting that in gave SNAKERIVER, which pointed to IdahoSciGuy (I stopped using usernames after you pointed out that my first clue had the same number of letters as fmtiger)
To explain the self clue:
The file was named bobv. imageshack will automatically add the v, so it was really bob.
Bob --> Robert --> Robert Green. 'nuff said.
