No. They are a week later than last year, I think.

Eastern Long Island Regionals were held yesterday, March 6. Congratulations to all the teams for their hard work. There were 45 teams from 29 schools that competed in up to 16 events out of 20 offered.

The following teams qualified for states:

1st Paul J. Gelinas 223 points
2nd R. C. Murphy 240
3rd Port Jefferson 272
4th Great Hollow 398
5th Islip 451
6th Springs 404

The new school award went to Hauppauge MS which finished 8th overall.

The places listed above are the rankings of the schools. Actual team ranking is different due to the fact that several schools have multiple teams (Gelinas, Murphy, Port Jefferson, Great Hollow). Also, the scores also reflect 46 points for each of the 4 events not entered. To get the actual total score for the events competed in, subtract 184 from the totals.

Our state tournament is May 1, just 3 weeks before nationals. Congratulations and good luck to these teams as they prepare for states.

Coach Vorwald
Paul J. Gelinas JHS

Umm, first, congratulations to everyone who competed in Eastern LI! :D

Second, about the actual events, did anyone else think that the Disease Detectives and the Experimental Design events were ridiculous? I was really discouraged at the award ceremony. .__.;;
