Are any of the competitions going to be using Windows 7 as their operating system?

That all depends on the school's computers. I would guess no. I haven't seen any school computers runing Vista, much less Windows 7.
But all the Windows aren't that different. Besides, all you need to know is how to get to and use Internet Explorer/Mozzila/Firefox/ect. , and how to get to and use Microsoft Office.
Once again, though, it all depends on the school's computers and the event coordinator.

Not really, I don't think the licensing cost for 7 is that much difference than for Vista or XP.

You won't likely see it though as no IT department is going to adopt an OS still in its infancy.

I'm from Eastern Long Island (that's in NY), and my coach recently told me that we will be using Macs with Office 2004. Anyone willing to offer any advice on using Office 2004 for Mac?

For the most part, it's all the same. Just the display might be a little different.

Ok, here's a question--does anyone know what version they are using for Excel and Word this year??? My mom wants to train me how to use Excel, but 2003 and 2007 are VASTLY different, and we don't want to practice on 2003 only to find out "Oh, they're using 2007!" Let me know. Thanks.

It depends on where the tournament is held. It could be anything. So prepare for everything!

You don't need to be trained to use Excel and Word. Both are actually pretty similar. The only different is that the toolbars are replaced by the ribbon in 2007. All you need to do in Excel is input data/make charts, and the only thing you need to do in word is type in data. Really you can train yourself just by messing with it.... but if you want, I would gladly add a "Basic Excel and Word" section to the wiki.

But it is true that you could be using any version. I used 2003 at the last tournament. All you need to know is the basics; they won't be asking you to do anything you can't learn yourself.

I also used 2003 at the last tournament, but my school district uses 2007. Word is probably the easiest thing to learn, because the vast majority of people already know how to use it. It's very simple- just start typing. Excel is a bit harder, so you might want to mess around with that until you get comfortable.
