Do you guys think scrambler will be run next year?

Build are typically on a two year cycle, the only time I've seen it broken was for Sumo Bots, which was fun but had serious scheduling issues, scrambler doesn't have those problems, so yes, this will most likely run next year, but there'll be a slight change in the rules.

Ya maybe it will be around a bucket again. How fun will that be!

where are you guys getting your wheels from?

Sparkfun now sells the actobotics precision wheels that we have, servocity also sells them (and I believe makes them).

As of now, our release mechanism is very jumpy, meaning it isn't smooth. Any ideas on what other have?

My vehicle keeps j-turning when it breaks. We are using a wingnut break system and I was just wondering if anybody else has encountered this problem and would know how to fix it

Yup, we had that problem with gravity vehicle last year. A few things,

1. Try cleaning the wheels if they're dirty, one wheel could have less traction than another
2. Add a spring between the wingnut and the stop so it slows down instead of being sudden
3. Try adding more weight over the wheels where the break is so there's more traction.

What are you using for wheels? You might be able to use balloons or something on the wheels to get more traction as well.

We also had this problem. Our original car was made of a sheet of plexiglass and was very slightly warped. This resulted in the front left and rear right tires having less floor contact that the other two. I won't go into all the details as to how we verified the pressure was finally the same for all the wheels but we added very thin shims under the bearings of the wheels that were making better floor contact to correct this problem. Dirty wheels and an unbalanced car can also cause this, especially with very short cars. You should be able to balance the car long-ways on a ruler very close to the center axis of the car.

If a string is attached to the falling mass, and a section of the string falls with the mass, does the string count as part of the 2 kg mass?
