Not quite: it was 32nd, 33rd, and 34th (2012 PA States Wiki), but I get the general idea of what you're saying. However, two teams in the top 10 is decent. Although I have to admit that Southwest would be more competitive if Sewickley was still going. /cue Sewickley nostalgia moment

Here are the actual results from Southwest.

Div. C top 4 were pretty close based on the event awards. It was pretty clear who the top 4 were, but impossible to tell the order. It made the team results pretty exciting seeing who would finish where in the top 4. Div. B, not so much haha.

C
1st-Allderdice
2nd-Shady Side
3rd-Quaker Valley
4th-Montour
5th-Franklin Regional
6th-Plum

B
1st-Shady Side (by far, based on the event medals)
2nd-Huston
3rd-Franklin Regional
4th-Quaker Valley
5th-Bedford
6th-Independence
7th-Spring Valley

I find it interesting that this year 7 B teams and 6 C teams made it, but last year 6 B teams and 7 C teams made it. How many teams were there in each division?

And hooray for Plum making states again! With Plum and Hershey, we've got to be the state with the tastiest teams, right?

Okay, thanks!

After checking some scoresheets, it turns out they last missed states in 2009. I guess my memory is shorter than I thought.

I'm not sure if I'd be more scared of Shady Side or Strath Haven in B division right now, both had absurdly low regional scores. Is it just me or are there lower regional scores across the country this year? I don't think I'd ever seen a team score under ~45 until this year. It'll be interesting to see if that continues through the rest of the year.
