Re: Forestry B/C
Sorry if this has been asked already, but if all the state trees are supposed to be on the list, why aren't Redwood and Baldcypress on there, when they are the state trees of California and Louisiana?

Yes, I know they are not on the national list, but what I want to know is why (they aren't on it).JSGandora wrote:I believe (s)he means that the state trees (each state has a tree) are supposed to be on the national list but they aren't.

Being a "State Tree" has no bearing on a tree being put on the National List.PacificGoldenPlover wrote:Yes, I know they are not on the national list, but what I want to know is why (they aren't on it).JSGandora wrote:I believe (s)he means that the state trees (each state has a tree) are supposed to be on the national list but they aren't.
I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees. I speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongues.

Re: Forestry B/C
Then why would they put kukui, wich is not described in either book nor is even found on the continental U.S., other than the fact that it is the State Tree of Hawaii.rfscoach wrote:Being a "State Tree" has no bearing on a tree being put on the National List.PacificGoldenPlover wrote:Yes, I know they are not on the national list, but what I want to know is why (they aren't on it).JSGandora wrote:I believe (s)he means that the state trees (each state has a tree) are supposed to be on the national list but they aren't.

Re: Forestry B/C
The probably want some sort of representative tree native to Hawaii because Hawaii also participates in Science Olympiad and most of the trees' range is in the 48 contiguous states. However, this might be a better question to ask the authorities.

Bingo. Nailed that one right on the head.
