Write what you see directly, not what you think happened. You have no way of verifying what you think happened, but you do have a way of verifying what you see directly.

Re: Can't Judge a Powder B
Well, this is one of those random events that you have to have luck with you to do well so this is one of my least favorite events.
For those that did CJAP at Nationals before, is it true that the event supervisor usually asks you about the reactions with the powder with the extra reagents that she gives? Also, the National champion last year had over 50 observations. With such a limited amount of time, how is this possible? Is it just because they write fast or is there some sort of strategy to this?

Re: Can't Judge a Powder B
Gah. Replacing....well I'm still excited, haven't done any new events in forever...
Um. For the nationals event, how much time do they usually give you? It takes us about 25 minutes just to do the three basic reagents, w/ one person writing. Will they give you two pencils/pens? One person usually has so much spare time after testing...
Also, I was curious about the supposed "5 point answer", which is like everything you could have on an observation, but then it says "which infers that so-and-so is hygroscopic". The 4 point observation was basically the observation w/o the inference. Would they really do that at the tournament? D:, grading us like that? Our biggest problem is time, and I really don't know how you're supposed to get faster, what with observations like "Aqueous solution had conductivity of 20 as indicated by green light shining while pressing "high" on the tester" making us lose valuable time.
