A difference in 5 psi between my two runs was a rocket which went up 1/3 of the way to hitting the ceiling hard (launcher was already leaky). Yeah I saw their launch and there’s no chance that their rocket punctured the hose. Also, the hose was leaky and you had to constantly pump to keep the psi where you want it. Our second launch went lower on a higher psi.sciolyperson1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 7:05 amA difference in 5 psi between my two runs was a rocket which went up 1/3 of the way to hitting the ceiling hard (launcher was already leaky). The piece that came off the rocket came right down on the hose, and since there were no prior complaints, I assumed that the problem started just before we went. In hindsight, the leak may have opened up more because of the pressure you rocket required, especially if it was already leaking. We lost all pressure in under 10 seconds.sciolyperson1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 7:05 amA difference in 5 psi between my two runs was a rocket which went up 1/3 of the way to hitting the ceiling hard (launcher was already leaky). I was going to appeal but as it was event supervisor's first invy, I let it slide.
I don't understand how any material on a rocket could do what you said it would; aren't pieces on the rocket supposed to be light and durable rather than heavy and hard?
The leak may have opened more, but the pressure I needed was not unreasonable and I assume many other teams had similar psis.

Really, the idea of your rocket puncturing the hose was something I overheard one of the timers say when they were trying to figure what broke the hose. It was the best guess I had so I rolled with it. With more context now, I doubt the rocket did anything to the hose when it landed.sciolyperson1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 7:32 am>No prior complaintsTendan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 7:15 amThe piece that came off the rocket came right down on the hose, and since there were no prior complaints, I assumed that the problem started just before we went. Also, I agree that your pressure was far from unreasonable, but assuming the hose was already damaged, it probably wouldn't take much to break it further.

Re: 2020 LISO Invitational (Long Island, NY) Div B & C
It's been like five days since LISO, but here are my event reviews!
Dynamic Planet (2) - Me and my partner went into thinking it would be really hard, so it was actually a lot better than we expected. Even though the test wasn't too long, we split it up because that's what we usually do with practice tests. Since I did like one page of multiple choice and the short answer, I'll say that the short answer was manageable (as long as you had the information in your binder), especially that math question. There were a couple of confusing multiple choice questions, but overall I think it was a really good test. Also, I think there was probably not that much difference between teams in terms of score. 9/10
Ornithology (19) - This event was interesting... they used the same test for divisions B and C, which was obviously easier for them to grade but not the best move for competitors. Some of the questions were easy, others were super specific. The ID was pretty good, though we got a couple wrong. This was the first Ornithology test I've ever taken, so I can't say too much about the test. Also, I commend the proctors for having to deal with this venue- the test was in a room that only had auditorium seats, and the proctors were very helpful with moving teams around so everyone could see the PowerPoint. The only thing I really had a problem with was that the slides were timed, so we didn't get a warning as to how much time we had left in a station. For the most part, though, there weren't many questions per slide, and we had 2 and a half minutes for each, so it was fine. Overall this was a pretty good experience even though we didn't do very well. 6/10
Water Quality (14) - This test was relatively easy and enjoyable. There were some confusing questions, but for the most part it was good. The proctors were all very nice and I loved the room it was in (AP Bio room, it had spinny chairs). Also, the salinity testing station was set up very nicely and they gave us a calibration solution as well as the testing solution. There was also a huge range of answers they accepted for the percentage so I'm thankful for that. My only complaint is that there wasn't much ID, but there were definitely a fair amount of questions pertaining to the specimens in the rules (just that there were only 2 pictures). I liked this event, it wasn't high stress and there were enough questions for me and my partner to do the test together. 8/10
Tournament (Our A team got 2nd and B team got 11th I think) - This was my first division C tournament! I had a ton of fun and met a bunch of people from different schools. I walked around a lot (and also got lost a lot lmao). The school was kind of confusing but I'm also just bad with directions. Again, my only problem, as other people have said, is that we had to wait like two hours for awards to start? Not sure what happened there but it made the actual awards ceremony a lot less enjoyable because many teams left and it seemed like everyone just wanted it to be over with (barely anyone was clapping by the end). But besides that whole thing, I had an absolutely amazing time and it was a wonderful introduction to div C. Shoutout to all the people at Syosset and SBU and whoever else helped put this tournament together, because it was very well run. (Also thanks to whoever decided that there should be people from the school helping give directions, because I would have been a lot more lost if not for them.) Overall 8/10

If we had to leave early, when can we expect our medals/trophies/tests to be mailed to us (if at all?)

We'll get tests back sometime in the next week, but I doubt we'll get medals.legitimately wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 7:02 pm If we had to leave early, when can we expect our medals/trophies/tests to be mailed to us (if at all?)

I believe they announced somwhere that medals will be sent with tests. I don't know when they will be mailed though.poptrop459 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 15, 2019 3:18 pmWe'll get tests back sometime in the next week, but I doubt we'll get medals.legitimately wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 7:02 pm If we had to leave early, when can we expect our medals/trophies/tests to be mailed to us (if at all?)
