Thanks I was just thinking that 'starting point' is the point where the car must start by definition. But thanks for clarifying that, should help a lotchalker wrote:I'm not seeing anything in the rules that says anything about the dowel needing to be on the starting point......not sure why you would assume that.Bazinga+ wrote:Rule 4 d. I originally thought that it had to start on the starting point by definition, but this rule makes me doubt it since I don't know why they would need it if the length limit is well under a meter.

This will definetly help time scores get lower. Thanks Chalker!Bazinga+ wrote:Thanks I was just thinking that 'starting point' is the point where the car must start by definition. Re: Electric Vehicle C
One more question about the rules. Rule 3 b. States the 'the ES must use a tape appx 2.5 cm wide and a meter long to mark the starting line, target line, and the .5 and 8.5 meter timing lines.'
First of all, and just clarifying, in 'appx 2.5 cm wide and a meter long' does the appx apply to the thickness or also to the width? So are the lines required to be perfectly a meter long or no? If they are, will the lines be centered so that 50 cm of the line is perfectly on one side of the center line, and 50 cm is on the other?

It's unlikely they'll be exactly 1m long. Just too hard for the event supervisors to set that up if it were.Bazinga+ wrote:One more question about the rules. Rule 3 b. Re: Electric Vehicle C
I have a question- if the vehicle is non-compliant with the rules, can the competitors be given an opportunity to fix it during the prep time of the run?

Re: Electric Vehicle C
I believe the standard approach is that competitors are allowed to make adjustments to a non-compliant vehicle until the end of impound. If your vehicle did not comply by the time impound is over, you would be docked construction penaltiesUQOnyx wrote:I have a question- if the vehicle is non-compliant with the rules, can the competitors be given an opportunity to fix it during the prep time of the run?

Re: Electric Vehicle C
This is sorta a dumb question (actually there are no dumb questions, just dumb people) but how long after you activate your car with the pencil does it have to start moving? I went to an invitational with the national supervisor for electric vehicle and our vehicle had a 1 second delay after you press the button before it started to run, and he seemed to be fine with it. Would it still be ok if the delay was more like 3 to 4 seconds? If so, is there a limit/ ES preference? Thanks.

Re: Electric Vehicle C
I don't think there is anything in the rules stopping you from doing so...although I wouldn't really advise you to delay for very long, what is the point? Unless you have a really good reason for it, don't push it, as always.Bazinga+ wrote:This is sorta a dumb question (actually there are no dumb questions, just dumb people) but how long after you activate your car with the pencil does it have to start moving? Mine takes about 3-4 seconds to arm after I push the button. You should be fine.Bazinga+ wrote:This is sorta a dumb question (actually there are no dumb questions, just dumb people) but how long after you activate your car with the pencil does it have to start moving?
