well, sure. zoobs look like good practice if yur sure that yur competition's gonna be toy sets.
but i know for a fact that in NY they use anyting and everything. (they did pipe cleaners for ny city metro regionals)

oh but i heard that at ny states they tend to use commercial toy sets, e.g. legos, k-nex, etc. truth or rumor?

Two years ago at NY States it was all black pieces of wood that the guy made himself. You never know what you are going to get.

at an invite we got a knex model, and at regionals we got a weird piece of wood with holes in it that had various junk pieces in it (broken straw, rubber bands, screws, washers, etc). its definitely random in this event.

If you want to talk creative...
At Aviation last year we got a WIDI that was made of Swedish fish of differing sizes and colors and toothpicks.

It was challenging. my partner wrote things like "stick the toothpick straight out of its butt" and we ended up getting 1st!

what's unfair about it? everyone who takes that test will know about it so no one has an advantage. now, if they told NJ people what was going to be at nats and no one else, i'd say thatd be unfair.

but still, if they know about it, then it would be easier for them to make it to nats, while all the other states have to work a lot harder to try and guess to make it.

i don't see how its easier to make it to nationals because all the teams in NJ get the info, and we don't get it for nationals...
