Thanks

We just recently realized this was missing. We're working on getting one up soon.

I was wondering, how would you interpret rule 3.k.? What counts as a hazardous material? Would nichrome wire be counted as hazardous? It isn't specifically banned, but it can heat up to some high temperatures.

Honestly, just use common sense. Look at the list of hazardous material in the rules and online in the summer institute slides on soinc. You should also look at the general rules on what is banned. If your still unsure on how a judge might rule, submit a FAQ online.

Lots of devices have used nichrome in the past, and I have not heard of any troubles as a result.

The only common 1-pint plastic containers I have been able to find are those that hold blueberries...is that what all of you are using for the containers for the sorting task?

Small Chinese soup containers.

My interpretation of 1 pint container is that since these aren't standardized, we can use any sort of container with an internal volume of 1 pint. Is that how others are taking it?
Edit: as long as the start task container and the 3 sorted containers are the same shape

Im using random containers from dollar tree that are labeled 1 pint, but are actually slightly larger. I don't think there are containers that are exactly one pint that you could easily find.

How does rule 3.n work? "Energy devices (e.g. batteries, mousetraps, candles), except motors, may be activated prior to starting the device." Does that mean that you could have a candle lit and burning before you actually start running the device? If so, then would the same apply to a lit lightbulb?
