Hematite, just because that's the only mineral that I know that form globules like that

I second this guess. Hematite is also called "kidney ore" due to forming shapes like the ones shown in the picture. and it has the black-red color of hematite too.
Goethite because of the round shape of the mineral, but also because of the dark black color versus a more metalic traditional metal color? Maybe wrong.
