SW PA
C
1.Alderdice
2.Shady Side
3. Quaker Valley

Can anyone give me a sense of how competitive the different regions are? I'm in division B in the SW and we're going to States. I'm wondering how hard it will be to medal at States compared to Regionals.

Well, I'm not sure about your Regionals, but ours only gives out 1-4, and at States they give out 1-5. That gives you an extra placement to receive a medal.

However, in terms of difficulty, it is much, much harder to do as well at States in your events. The best teams from 6 regions are all vying for those top 5 placements, not just the best teams in your region. Luckily, you're in division B, which isn't as competitive, but still very hard.

I would say that the Southeast region is the most competitive, but not by much. Central East and Northeast are pretty competitive, with consistent top 10's at States (if we're defining competitiveness as how well a team matches up with the others at States). Then, because of Shady Side, I would say Southwest is next. After that, I don't really know.

Awh, poor North Clarion. That's gotta be rough.

Whoa.

1. Central East is going to be a bloodbath this year.
2. Out of curiosity... why Central East? By my Google Maps calculations, Central and Northeast are closer. Also, State College goes to Central.

Also, good luck to everyone competing at SW tomorrow! Let us know what happens, since I don't think your region has a website.
Yep. Hard to say who will win. It is confusing about the Central East division. SCAHS goes to Central, so why don't we? I have no idea. My teacher says we've been moved around a lot(I am a 6th grader), so.... who knows whats going on in the PA organizers minds! :)

Going on last years state results, id have to say that southwest is pretty weak considering that only two teams placed in the top ten, and i believe 33,34,35(out of 36) were all from southwest.
