Re: Sounds of Music B
A bass flute would be incrediby big, and probably difficult to play... Or at least so I've found in my experimentation. You may be better off with a bass marimba and treble flute, but it's up to you.

Bass marimba and treble flute... That's pretty much exactly what we did, right down to the letter. It works.

Re: Sounds of Music B
Does anyone think that Viva La Vida by Coldplay was a bad choice for my sounds of the music music choice?

Re: Sounds of Music B
I can't really tell you. If it sounds good, shows off your instruments, and includes both melody and harmony, go for it! But if you're having doubts, you might want to think about it a little more.

Re: Sounds of Music B
Build working prototypes of an instrument or two, and then alter or rebuild when the new rules come out. If you already have construction/design down, rebuilding next season shouldn't be a problem unless cost is an issue.

Re: Sounds of Music B
I need a lot of PVC pipes and I have to tune a marimba for next year, so I just have to wait until the rules come out so I can start without wasting supplies before. Although I got everything worked out.silverheart7 wrote:Build working prototypes of an instrument or two, and then alter or rebuild when the new rules come out. Re: Sounds of Music B
Keep in mind, the pitch of the marimba will depend on the environment. So you can cut the keys now if you want, but sand them down to at least 50 cents sharp at room temp. That way, you can make it perfect next year. Same with the resonators.
