I was kinda shocked seeing how much my regionals relied on lakes, organisms, and just MATH. (it didn't help that we were the only team without calculators).
We knew 4 questions on the top of our heads and my notesheet only helped me with one question. Somehow we got 2nd though.

How much do we have to know about organisms? It doesn't say much about it on the rules. I'm guessing just general organisms that live in lakes, rivers and the ground but I may be wrong.

You shouldn't have to know about organisms at all since it's an earth science event, unlike Water Quality which is biology based.

But to be honest, I feel like the converse of that statement is a bit irksome. On my regional Water Quality test, I had to do stream order, drainage patterns and even some Karst features. Although I don't do DP, I recalled the questions from reading up on the event. However, I feel like many competitors without DP experience were thrown a curveball with those questions. Yes, the event is very biology-related (it did replace Ecology) but it definitely takes many Dynamic aspects into the event.

Very true. People who have both Dynamic Planet and Water Quality (and to an extent meteorology) are in better shape for the tests seeing how the events really do overlap.


a majoity of the "organism" questions were about plankton. There may have been one insect question but I can't recall it. But I remember one question was "which of these are not a fish"

Okay so we mainly need to know about plankton and general types of organisms.

The ultimate events would be having Dynamic Planet, Awesome Aquifers and Water Quality

Thank you, hex! I managed to shrink it down to less than half a page without taking anything out--this is a very valuable contribution.
What else would you guys suggest putting on the cheat sheet? (No one pull a foreverphysics and say, "Whatever you don't know.")
