As a result of bad proctoring I was eliminated before the final block when obviously I had the best bot
You did? That's a pretty big assumption. Aren't you the same guy who said you were using 6 AA batteries?
But still, sorry man. Was this at an invitational?
I have new nimh batteries now, but anyway what happened was a the team who won my block should have been disqualified for a few things:
- they were called about 5 times but they were broken down every time(you get 90sec once you've been called otherwise you forfeit the match), then they jumped in for the last 3 rounds while I had just one 8 or so fights in a row
- they repaired there robot using parts from their B team's robot(you can only use supplies YOU impounded)
- then when I faced them there robot climbed on top on mine before braking again, so I proceeded to carry them out of the ring, now based on the positioning the other robot exited the ring before I did and I should have won, but the proctor declared it a draw and proceeded to lightest weight which is why they won. I requested a rematch and the other team even agreed but the proctor said no

So yeah there you go, and yeah this was an invitational so it doesn't really matter but it still makes me angry when people don't know the rules
That's pretty annoying. In the rules, though, it says that if you leave under your own power, you can reenter in 5 seconds and still be legal. Did you do that? Either way, you shouldn't have lost that match.
But I can understand a supervisor at an invitational letting a team postpone their rounds a bit if they need time, or use extra tools to fix it. The goal of an invitational is practice, and not getting to compete is against that principal.

Yeah it does but I didn't reenter the ring both because the rules say once the other bot was out the ring, by being pushed, the round is over, and I was afraid that if I did reenter the ring the other bot my fall off and so on, So technically the round would've been over when the other bot, being carried by mine, left the ring and before my bot exited the ring under its own power
Oh well, I did end up getting 3rd so I did get a medal :D
I'll just have to dominate at the next invitational 8-)

Wasn't the tournament double elimination? Even if you unfairly lost 1 match, you aren't out until you lose a 2nd time.
When it comes to the future, there are three kinds of people: those who let it happen, those who make it happen, and those who wonder what happened.

I had already lost one match because my electronics were acting up and one esc became unresponsive

Two years ago, the winning WLI design had retractable arms that pushed the other robot out.

Well, I do think we're going to see a lot of "sloped" robots, but vex it pretty expensive so I'm guessing that not many teams will use it. The whole idea of a wedge, though, is pretty popular, for a good reason in my opinion. If you can get in between your opponent's wheels and the ground, you are at a clear advantage.

Yes, sloped or wedged bots are extremely effective especially since they are also the easiest to construct. Compared to flippers or grabbers that require extra moving parts. But a competition where every bot has roughly the same design isn't as exciting. Its good to hear a less conventional bot was able to win. I'm guessing people who are doing different designs (or variations with the wedge) are waiting until after regionals to share them.

Yeah, the past NYS winners were just fast wedges. However, i've seen some odd designs, like four wedges surrounding the bot like a square, a retractable wedge that shot underneath their opponent (which would have won if it wasnt for a DQ) and a bot that raised itself up a foot and stretched itself a foot so the other bot flew underneath it and out of the ring.

Well, Vex is about as expensive as building a (good) custom bot, and it's a million times easier, so it's actually been really popular the past few years.
