It most likely would be. Better to leave it off

For my car we have a brake that when it gets jammed the power to the motor is killed and the axle stops. We also have skinny tires so that there is less friction on the ground to case skidding.

That might work for you, but our car goes too fast, so it has a lot of momentum and skids. The way we found to stop it is to put a spring in at the end of the axle, so when the wing nut hits the spring the car slows down. We thought that this might be a problem because the spring might compress different amounts each time, but it seems to be pretty consistent.

We had a spring on the axle for a while but the night before regional we discovered that the spring was getting chewed up and it didn't work well.

How fast is your vehicle traveling?
There are some things you may be able to do to stop skidding.
Ours traveled at 3 seconds, we reduced the skid from 30+ cm's, to virtually nothing.

As quick as 2.94 and as slow as 4 seconds.

Are you able to reduce weight? We did so, after invitationals by 17%.
Where is your balance point?
Does your vehicle skid straight?
What type of wheels are you using?

We reduced the weight of the car. The car has the will skid almost directly straight and a little to the right. Our wheels are covered by a rubber o ring.
