Re: Politics
but this is our future! We have to care about it. we have a 14 trillion dollar deficit. this is not going to be paid off by the time we enter the workforce, and especially not if our leaders in washington keep spending the way they are spending. in just a few years this is going to be our problem, and if we don't pay attention now, we're going to make the same mistakes our leaders are making now.paleonaps wrote:STOP BRINGING THIS THREAD BACK!

I really hope your kidding.rkoopma2 wrote:Michelle Bachmann for president!
But, anyway, on the deficit issue. The problem with the governments debt is not the job creating and so called discretionary spending money. That is just the governments excuse. The real problem is the main things, that have to be cut which are unfortunately Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Defense. Now, for different reasons, neither the Republicans or Democrats want to bring up these to the bargaining table. These don't necessarily have to be completely cut, just looked at to make sure that the money going into them is being spent well and that the government is not just throwing money at these projects. That is the real problem. And there are no more moderates to tell both sides they are wrong anymore, which has led us to Washingtonian Paralysis.
And in terms of jobs, I have one question for you. If you were really rich, and you got a tax break from the government, would you then put this money of yours into your business, or personal life? No, the taxes cannot be lowered on the rich. The economy can't afford it. It is the small businesses themselves that need the tax breaks. Then jobs will be made. I for one think that the government is doing a good job mostly on the jobs front.

Re: Politics
Problem is, the temperature of the Earth actually IS changing, and so global warming IS the truth. It is only the cause that really is disputable.

Re: Politics
2010 and 2005 were the hottest years ever recorded. The earth is warming and that is a fact. Whether humans intensify the problem is debatable. Maybe people should understand the argument before they post. Unfortunately, some people have already made it obvious that they will argue without knowing the facts. The vast majority of climate scientists believe human action contributes to global warming, whereas only about fifty percent of the American public does. Is it just me, or is this an argument between the informed and the uninformed who want this to be a political issue?

Re: Politics
Wouldn't global warming cause all sorts of odd weather patterns? That's what I've heard, but I don't remember where.
