So basically we are done with our notes and now I am focusing on identifying the birds without the help of a field guide or other sources. I already have some of them down, but I'm using quizlet and it doesn't work that well because:
I just memorize the specific picture shown and not the actual identifying features of the bird
Most of the pictures are low quality or super zoomed out. In one of them you can't even see the bird!
Does anyone have a solution to this? I am looking for something with multiple pictures of each bird. Any help is appreciated!

Honestly the bird bot is super super super helpful. I was pretty much almost 100% on bird identification after about 500ish identifications.

Re: Ornithology B/C
Oddly specific question: In "Practice Test Division B" under the old test exchange, is specimen 6 a magnolia or yellow-rumped warbler?

I've been playing around with bird bot for a while and do they have all of the birds on the list? I'm only seeing a couple come up.hmmm wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 8:32 pmhttps://discord.gg/xKvw8VQ is the link to the official server.Blank25 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 7:37 pmHere's the invite links for the bird bot:CPScienceDude wrote: ↑Wed Jan 01, 2020 4:47 pm

Re: Ornithology B/C
I think they do, it's just that their randomization system isn''t the best - not "true random". In addition to this sometimes the wrong bird photos will be featured.
However, it is still a great way to practice for this event.

Re: Ornithology B/C
Is anyone reviewing the differences between subspecies as well? I’m unsure whether or not subspecies identification will be on any official scioly tests— probably at most, just locations where they are found, right?

Re: Ornithology B/C
Not really, most test supervisors don't take that into account or care about that from what I know (like in herp sub species was never tested, also some species have like 9 or more subspecies which would make the event more painful). I think the most for subspecies is asking for how many subspecies for a certain species or they might give a photo of a subspecies but the answer would just be the regular species on the list (like they could give a photo of an eastern screech owl, but the answer would be screech owl)TastyPastry wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 3:09 pm Is anyone reviewing the differences between subspecies as well? personally i like sibley, but if ur leaning toward more information based i would say peterson's, but if ur leaning toward ID tips I would say Sibley's. TBH, field guides aren't really helpful for the actual competition, but can help prepare
