Likely mentioned previously, the problem with Swine/H1N1 is the follow-up infections. Those with compromised immune systems, those at risk, and those with chronic breathing problems (i.e. asthma) are particularly noteworthy here, but it applies to everyone.
Thus as a general comment, look out for people who have been sick and are getting better. If they take a turn for the worse again, encourage them to get more treatment. Pneumonia that comes on the heels of the flu is particularly dangerous and unfortunately seemingly common with this strain of the flu. I had a near-miss with this. I had the flu, got better,then felt awful again. Upon going to the hospital with breathing problems, I had bronchitis and a sinus infection. Antibiotics became a measure (above all else) to ensure that pneumonia did not follow.
So people: look out for each other. A little bit of compassion and identification can help remove the most dangerous elements of the flu. Take care of each other!
